Dear RSA Citizens

I am an individual who has suffered a great loss and is currently doing anything to create income for myself. I have lost my business , my house , my car and most importantly my income. With a son to support and myself and the fact that I got engaged it took a major toll for the negative on me. I have decided that I am the driver of my life and need to do something to change it.

Like most of us I thought Debt Counseling is seen as a negative thing. But to me surprise its actually not. It is quite a simple process and it assist us as Consumers. Governed by the NCR and all the Counselors has to go for training it protects us against our creditors and it avoids our names from getting worse on the Credit Bureaus. It is not a costly exercise either and you get a 60 day grace period. It has a is standard terms and conditions like everything else. But in general it is not too bad if you want to rehabilitate yourself. You wont be able to apply for credit and they may freeze your bank accounts immediately upon request for Debt Review. In my experience I found this to help protect me and givng me more access to my precious funds.

I would recommend everybody to do this as it is a step in the right directions for getting yourself back on track.

How does it work:
-First an assesment needs to be done to see if you qulaify.
-Once you qualify you complete forms.
-Then you supply a list of all your creditors
-Then you supply a list of your income.
-You then supply a list of your monthly expenses.
-A budget is worked out for you that suits your needs.
-The counsellor then submits this to the NCR and all creditors for review and acceptance.
-Once accepted you pay the fixed amount monthly to the counselor and they pay your creditors.

This is my understanding of how it works..
